Tryouts this year will consist of two days of on-ice tryouts, and one day of off-ice. The cost to participate in the tryouts is $50, to help cover the expenses for the three day event. Off-Ice Help Needed
In addition to the upcoming tryouts for players, the LSU Tigers Ice Hockey team is in need of 6-8 off-ice personnel to assist with various game-day and team functions. While LSU students are prefered, being a student is not required. We need help in the following areas:
All the positions except Merchandise Sales would be considered as travel positions, meaning you would be expected to attend both away and home games. The Merchandise Sales position is for home games only. Please note that all these positions are voluntary, however the team will gladly write you a letter of recommendation (assuming satisfactory performance) upon the completion your tenure. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience for those interested in a career in photography, video capture and editing, statistics, and sports medicine, as well as marketing majors. If you are interested in more information on any of these positions, please contact Bill Stein at gm@lsuhockey.com. WelcomeWelcome to the new home of LSU Tigers Ice Hockey. As we transition to our 2010-11 season, our internet headquarters is transitioning as well. Please take some time and look around, but please bear with us as we get everything 100% squared away. You know how moving is... LSU Tigers Ice Hockey Announces New CoachesWith our coach stepping down last season, LSU Ice Hockey went on the search for a new set of coaches. After months of searching, Troy Bennett and Gerry Bloom have been named as the new faces of tiger hockey. Troy, carrying a level 5 coaching certificate from USA hockey and years of knowledge for the game, is excited about the opportunity to coach at this level making the move up from coaching at the high school level. As well, Gerry Bloom has become the face of LSU hockey over the past season. He was a fan and father of a player, Patrick Bloom, to eventually filling the role last season as an assistant coach and head coach for a few games. He currently holds a level 3 coaching certificate from USA hockey and is taking over the role as the team’s assistant coach and fundraising manager. With the excitement these two men bring to the ice, the tigers are looking nowhere but up! Community Support OpportunitiesThe LSU ice hockey team is interested in giving back any way we can. If you have community service work that you would like to have a few players from the team show up and help out, send us an email at pbloom2@tigers.lsu.edu.
